The House

FRAGORE.

In Italian, fragore is a deafening roar, like thunder.

You never see it. You hear it before the storm arrives.

That's the idea behind every bottle: people notice you before you walk in, and after you leave, you're still in the room.

UNSEEN, UNFORGETTABLE.
Portrait of Hassan El Aashar, founder of FRAGORE

The maker

I was nine when a perfume first stopped me. It was my brother's: heavy, woody, nothing a child was supposed to like.

Years later, nothing I bought lasted through an Egyptian summer, and everything had started to smell the same. So I started building my own formula: base, heart, top. None came out the way I imagined. One note would bury another and the whole thing collapsed. I poured away about two kilos of oils.

I spent two and a half years learning one ingredient at a time before I made something worth showing people. Something that represents me. My brother doesn't flatter me. When he said it was good, I believed him.

Every detail you hold is mine: the box, the label, the mark, the way the bottle is dressed. That took time too.

The first was RUSTY RUM. FRAGORE started there.

Raw frankincense tears and myrrh resin on dark stone

The heritage

Egypt has been composing fragrance for five thousand years.

At dusk, the temples burned kyphi: frankincense, myrrh, cinnamon, juniper, raisins and honey, pressed into pellets. The recipe is still carved into the walls at Edfu and Philae.

We are not reviving that. We are continuing it.

The mark

The scarab in our mark is Khepri: the ancient Egyptian god of the rising sun, pictured as a beetle pushing the sun into the sky each morning. His name comes from the word to come into being.

Not one rebirth. A renewal that never stops.

We drew him in a modern line, not as he appears on temple walls: one of a kind, like whoever wears FRAGORE.

That is the house in one symbol: five thousand years, continued every day.

Two traditions

The house moves between two traditions.

The Egyptian and Arab tradition gives the depth: resin, oud, myrrh, amber.

The Italian tradition gives the light: fresh citrus and open florals.

Some compositions live at one end. Some hold both.

And because perfume has always been unisex, we sort by character, not by gender. Every page shows where a scent leans, never who may wear it.
